Travel & Stay

All events will be taking place at or near Greg’s family home in Williston, Vermont.

Greg skiing at Bolton, Vermont. He is wearing a onesie in the shape of a snowman (with dark eyes and a carrot nose) and bright green skis with matching boots. His face is mostly hidden by the hoodie of the onesie, but he is grinning.
Kolohe sits on a bench that overlooks Berkeley's Tilden Park. Greg's copper-colored mountain bike is leaned up against the bench.
Sara is paddling out at Pacifica, California. They are on a white longboard with red stripes and wearing a black and blue wetsuit. They are laughing with their eyes closed and a foot poking up into the air as they paddle.

Transportation

Renting a Car

Greg’s family home (the wedding venue) in Williston, Vermont is about a twenty minute drive from downtown Burlington, Vermont. Burlington is technically a city, but by many people’s standards it can be considered relatively small town with relatively small-town qualities. In other words, people are friendly - but public transportation is extremely limited.

Because of this, we recommend that you rent a car for the duration of your stay in the area, or make plans to carpool with others.

Nearby Airports

There are a number of travel options for those flying into the wedding. While Burlington airport is by far the closest, other major metropolitan areas are a few hours to a half-day away by car (or train!) and can serve as an adventurous first stop for your trip to Vermont.

  • Burlington, Vermont

Burlington International Airport (BTV) is the closest airport: it is a 10 minute drive to both Greg’s family home in Willison and downtown Burlington, Vermont. This is the easiest option for most travelers, but can be pricey.

  • Montreal, Canada

Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport (YUL) is a 2-hour drive from the Burlington area. Note that flights are often cheaper into YUL, but you will need to bring your passport for the border crossing. Make sure you check each rental car company’s policies on driving cars into the U.S.

  • Boston, Massachusetts

Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is a 3 hour and 30 minute drive from the Burlington area.

  • New York, New York

All New York area airports (JFK, LGA, and EWR) are a 6-hour drive from the Burlington area. Note that there are also trains from New York City to downtown Burlington - we recommend the Ethan Allen Express, which is a 7 hour and 30 minute ride.

Lodging Recommendations

There are many hotels, B&Bs, and other rental options in the Burlington area. If you’re looking for nightlife, we recommend staying in or near downtown Burlington or the Winooski area. If you want to be in a quieter town, Essex or Williston are a great option. Below are some places we like to recommend to friends and family when they visit (though please note that there are no room blocks reserved for this wedding).

Hotel Vermont

  • Hotel Vermont is a chic hotel in downtown Burlington - close to everything the city has to offer and right on the edge of Lake Champlain. Great if you’re looking for a room with a view that’s also a short walk to dinner.

  • On the pricier end: $500 a night in peak summer season.

Home2 Suites Williston

  • This hotel is a 5-minute drive to the venue and about 15 minutes away from downtown Burlington. This is a great option if you want to stay close to the wedding weekend events - and do so for a good price.

  • Ranges from $175 to $300 a night

Vacation Rentals

  • Renting via a vacation rental site - such as Airbnb or VRBO - is always a great option, especially if you are traveling in a group or want to have a kitchen space to cook your own meals. When searching, check options in Williston, Burlington, and surrounding towns.
